How to keep your teeth strong and healthy
Unlike all the other bones in the body, the teeth are not regenerated. Still, teeth need calcium, vitamins, and other nutrients to stay strong. What else can you do to maintain healthy teeth?
- Avoid sugary and acidic food and drinks that soften the enamel and lead to damage.
- Gently brush your teeth twice daily. Avoid over-brushing so as not to damage your enamel and gums.
- Hydrate. Avoid dry mouth by drinking enough water and breathing through your nose. A dry mouth allows harmful acids, plaque, and food remnants to remain on the teeth, which can result in tooth decay.
- Reduce stress. Anxiety and tension cause us to grind our upper and lower teeth together, especially at night. Over time it can wear down the tooth enamel and lead to damage and broken teeth.
